Liverpool scouts were on hand to run the rule over OlympiacosmidfilderAguibouCamara during the final set of games in the Europa League group stage. According to media outlet SporTime, Liverpool officials were in attendance as Belgian top flight side Royal Antwerp secured a 1-0 home win over Greek champions Olympiacos on Thursday night. It was revealed that Liverpool target Camara was the best player for Olympiacos in the first 45 minutes despite him coming off at the half-time interval.

The Reds are said to be looking to strengthen their midfield options with young players as their reliable midfielders are ageing. Brazilian international Fabinho, Spanish midfilder Thiago Alcantara and Englishman Jordan Henderson are reliable members of the Liverpool midfield at the age of 28, 30 and 31 respectively. To this effect, the Reds might need to start a new midfield cycle which is where a young and promising talent such as Olympiacos star Camara could prove to be useful. Also, he could be the man to replace GeorginioWijnaldum at the club as the Reds have not replaced the Dutchman who left the club to join Paris Saint Germain (PSG) on a free transfer. Wijnaldum has been linked with a loan return to the Premier League after failing to fully settle at PSG though Liverpool are not keen on re-signing him.

Liverpool are not the only Premier League team on the trail of Guinean international star Camara. Apart from Liverpool, Newcastle United have also been linked with the player.

Olympiacos and Liverpool have a very good working relationship after the Reds signed Greek international KostantinosTsimikasfor a fee of around £11m at the start of last season and this could work in favour of the Reds in the quest to sign Camara. 18-year-old Borussia Dortmund midfielder Jude Bellingham is also a midfield target for  Liverpool apart from the aforementioned Camara.
